About us

What’s in a Name

Arbalest Press was founded in 2015 by a group of artists and printers based in the Boston area. After years of printing together at the Bow & Arrow Press in Cambridge we decided to open a first-of-its-kind printing arts collaborative in Boston, dedicated to teaching letterpress printing and book arts while also producing an array of letterpress works of our own, from wedding cards to stationery and fine press prints.

Just as we honor letterpress in a digital age, the name Arbalest—which refers to the technology that succeeded the Bow & Arrow—pays homage to our collective roots.

Location

523 Medford Street, 2nd Floor
